On January 1, 2016, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (“USCIS”) will be required to dispose of all E-Verify records 10 years old or older (a link to the USCIS notice is here). USCIS is making available a Historic Records Report containing information about each employer’s E-Verify cases that will be purged. But the Historic Records Reports are only available for download through December 31, 2015. Thus, employers should seize this opportunity to preserve their older E-Verify data for record keeping and compliance purposes. (A copy of the USCIS Notice/Fact Sheet is also posted below).
